🧳 Germans abroad

Living abroad? Keep your German mail flowing

Banks, insurers, health insurers, the Deutsche Rentenversicherung and many public offices still write by post — often to a German address. Keep one, and read everything online wherever you live.

When you leave Germany, the letters don’t stop. Bank statements, insurance renewals, pension information from the Deutsche Rentenversicherung, letters from the Finanzamt and from your health insurer keep arriving — and many German organisations still prefer a German postal address. Forwarding everything to a relative works until the day they are away, or a registered letter has to be collected.

With GermanAddress you give these organisations one stable street address in Germany. We photograph every envelope on arrival, open and scan what you ask for, and forward originals to your new country on your schedule. You keep a clear record of every letter, even if you move again.

Important: a postal address is not a residence. When you move abroad you still have to deregister (Abmeldung) from your German address; our address cannot be used as a Meldeadresse, and it does not change your tax residence. Ask a tax adviser if you are unsure.

Can I keep my German bank account with this address?
Many customers do, as a correspondence address. Each bank sets its own rules for non-resident customers, so check with yours: some ask for your actual foreign address as well.
Can I receive letters from the Finanzamt?
You can receive any letter addressed to you. Your tax situation, however, is determined by where you live — a German postal address does not change it.
